kiri always made it a point to tell you she loved you. when you woke up, when you did your chores, and even before you closed your eyes at night. she loved you. and nothing was ever going to change that.
so when the sky people came back and her family had to leave, you both were heartbroken. when kiri broke the news to you, you took it as a sick joke, not wanting to believe that she would really leave you. but when you turned around and saw kiri’s face, lacking a soft expression, you knew she was serious. your heart shattered into pieces as you wept on your lovers shoulder, her thumb gliding slowly against your shoulder as she held your shaking frame, feeling tears slip down her cheeks as well.
you didn’t want your girlfriend to leave, and she didn’t want to leave you. but you knew this was for the best.
kiri promised to wait for you, as you did with her. the two of you shared a bittersweet goodbye as she slowly pulled away from the long embrace you two held. she gave a sad smile before whispering the last words you’d hear for a while.
‘i love you’
as the years went by, you grew more worrisome for kiri. you didn’t know if she was alive. you didn’t know if she was getting proper rest. and the thought ate you up everyday. you cursed the great mother that the na’vi people didn’t have the highest technology as the sky people did. you missed your beloved but you weren’t sure if she missed you.
that is until one day you heard a fellow clan member yell ‘they’re back!’. you quickly jumped to your feet as you saw the ikrans circle and fly in the sky, landing on the ground shortly after. you quietly pushed through the crowd as you looked around. looked around for her.
a wide smile spread across your face as you saw her. oh she was as beautiful as ever. kiri noticed you long before you noticed her, opening her arms and letting you fall into them. you two shared a long, warm embrace. kiri finally speaking after all these years.
